A hot night and cold beverages did not combine to cause any significant Canada Day related problems.
Police were concerned about three major events...the river valley fireworks, the party at the Legislature grounds and a smaller celebration in Mill Woods. They were ready if any significant trouble occured but nothing un-toward happened. "That's the way we like it" chimed one EPS veteran who remembers the 2001 Canada Day riot on Whyte Avenue.
The heat did get to some people who also had too much to drink away from the traditional Canada Day hot spots. Police were kept busy with family fights and parties. A couple of people are nursing rather nasty injuries but they'll by OK.
