A head-on collision between a pickup and a car near Edson has killed one woman and sent her passenger to hospital.
Police say the 26 year old woman was driving her small car east along the Yellowhead Highway when she was struck by a westbound pickup going the wrong way Sunday night near Niton Junction.
The driver of the pickup tried to run away from the scene but was soon caught by police. The 29 year old man from Neepawa, Manitoba has been charged with impaired driving causing death.
A 25 year old passenger in the car was taken to hospital but is expected to survive. The crash shut down Highway 16 eastbound for 3 hours Sunday night.
No names have been released.
