An arena, new LRT, at least five towers, maybe more, a new arts district and a new museum are all adding up to a nice problem for the Downtown Business Association.
It's also prompted the makings of a long term info campaign to warn you about what to expect.
"My worry quite frankly is the next 6 or 8 years there's going to be so much construction downtown that we're going to have to be proactive, " said executive director Jim Taylor. "Keep ahead of this and remind people that cranes and hoarding and detours and that sort of thing is good news not bad news."
"That's something we're going to have to do because we're going to be a construction zone for six years at least downtown."
"If you're not proactive about it what happens is you fall into the negative area and you spend all of your energy getting people back to ground zero, whereas if you're proactive and people driving to work say 'its a crane, it's part of this explosion" it's a whole different attitude I think."
Taylor says it's already started with the Fox tower that's taken up a lane on 104 street and a bit of 103.
But now the DBA has also revised its forecast from a year ago where it suggested there would be $4.8 billion in new construction. It now sees more than $5 billion dollars in projects ready to go.
The arts centre pitched by the Irv Kipness Group was at the rumored stage a year ago but that's now getting land set aside by the city to go ahead. The Kelly Ramsey Building is also on the go, with Rice Howard Way and 101st street tied up as a 28-storey tower is constructed.
Taylor expects this 'attitude' campaign to be launched in the next month or so.
