A violent weekend assault over the weekend in Northwest Edmonton has a Community League President calling for action from EPS.

Meredith Porter is one of many in the McCauley Community League whose had enough of the violent Crime in her community.  Porter posted a letter on the Community League's website for police to pay close attention to the community that's been the victim of numerous incidents.

She tells Global News that last weekends assaults have her and many residents afraid for their safety.

"It scared me, it scared a lot of people, I've been talking to a lot of people and their first reaction has been oh my gosh that could have been me and my family" says Porter.

EPS Spokeswoman Clair Seyler says the Community Action Team is out every month with a huge presence around the McCauley neighbourhood.  She adds that violent crime in that area is down 9% over last year. You can read the letter at: http://www.mccauley.info/zoning.html.  (JSL/Global)
